Let’s rewind over a decade ago, to the time when I was just dipping my toes into the vast ocean of web development. Back then, WordPress and PHP were my go-to tools. Building websites felt like magic—typing some code, refreshing the browser, and voilà, something new appeared on the screen! Those were the days of plugins galore, themes that sometimes worked (and sometimes didn’t), and learning through trial, error, and a lot of Googling.
WordPress taught me a lot about the fundamentals of web development. It was my gateway into understanding how the web works, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. But as my skills grew, so did my curiosity. I started asking myself, “What else is out there?”
The Great Leap: Embracing Modern Stacks
Fast forward to today, and my toolkit looks a little different (okay, a lot different). I’ve shifted my focus to modern stacks that offer more flexibility, scalability, and speed. Enter: Next.js and Supabase.
Next.js has been a game-changer for me. Its server-side rendering capabilities, file-based routing, and overall developer experience make it a joy to work with. Paired with Supabase, an open-source alternative to Firebase, I’ve been able to build dynamic, decoupled, and headless applications that are not only powerful but also a breeze to maintain.
